Press-conference announcing the start of the project „The Prosecution Facing Society”. The event will be held on July 10, 2008 (Thursday) from 10.30 to 11.30 athall) of the Court House.
The main goal of the project is to open the prosecution to the public and to create conditions for an active dialogue with the citizens and the professional legal community. This is one of the first projects approved by the Bulgaria Fund, which is financed by the United States Agency for International Development and the German Marshall Fund of US. The project will be implemented by Club Journalists against Corruption in partnership with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The project will popularize the functions of the prosecution by developing information materials which will be provided to the citizens at the prosecution and police offices throughout the country. The materials will also clarify the possibilities for filing corruption signals.
The legal community will be engaged in a professional discussion of the application of the new Criminal Procedures Code. Our objective will be to support the drafting of changes that will contribute to the increased effectiveness of the criminal proceedings. The results from the professional discussion will be presented to the Parliament.
The project will work actively with the media. Therefore would be happy to hear you ideas and suggestions on this during the meeting. We believe you your participation will be very useful in our efforts to facilitate the dialogue between the prosecution and the public.
