ASSOCIATION "CLUB-JOURNALISTS AGAINST CORRUPTION"

The Association "Club- Journalist Against Corruption" is established on April 6th , 2004 from 25 journalist from 18 leading media.

Presently the Club has eight regional structures - in Vidin, Kardjali, Vratsa, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Varna, Montana and Bourgas and outnumbers more than 190 members.

Our immediate goal is to join the efforts of the government and the journalists in their work against corruption. Our main task is to provoke intolerance in society against different form of corrupted practices and to change indifferent attitude of citizens by using the influence of media.

The Club initiated a monitoring procedure on the work of the members of parliament at the 39th National Assembly in order before the parliamentary elections 2005, the Bulgarian society to receive clear information on the activities of the parliament members and by this to contribute that in the next parliament to be elected people who will work for the public interest and not for a personal or private corporate interests. The rating for "the most hard working" and "the laziest" parliament members will be announced at the end of May after a detailed analysis of their activities in the Parliament during the mandate.

Within the project "Social Intolerance Against Corruption" under the USAID program "Open Management", " Club- Journalists Against Corruption" launched the initiative "No to the corruption!" together with shooting videos and investigation documentary movies. The media campaign continued under the project "Face to Face Against Corruption" of USAID.

"Club-Journalists Against Corruption" also perform media monitoring on the work of the administrative authorities in Vidin and Montana districts under the EU PHARE Program "Civil Society Development" In May and June, ten journalists from the club will be educated for experts in the implementation of the basic measures for execution of the National Strategy For reaction Against the Corruption and they will take specialized courses in EU member countries.

The Club has been awarder with a Diploma of the Governmental Commission for Fight Against Corruption for most successful anti-corruption practices during 2004.

Ten of the members of the club was graduated for anti-coruption trainers. Five of them specialeses in Finland under HAUS Institute project
